I got born again in 1988 and as such I have been around a while. I learnt a lot of things growing up in the Lord, I learnt quite a bit on several issues relating to our walk with God, but one of them remained a mystery, Faith.
There were several teachings about faith that I have heard but they didn't really get home to me. Each time I read about God asking us to believe or walk by faith, I just sounded difficult. The charismatic circle I also rolled with used the word "Faith" in several contests it was hard to understand.
However when I was about graduate from the university in the late 1990s, particularly in 1998, began to listen a lot to Kenneth and Gloria Copeland, and my walk with God was totally radicalized. For the first time, I began to gain proper accurate insight on issues I was not clear on. Ken and Gloria's anointed, simple, focused-on-way-of-life teaching and application of the word of faith so got through to me. I believe that my life and ministry today is a result of the principle and perspective I learnt and keep learning from them. God gave me a revelation of what faith was. He said taught me that faith in God starts and is sustained by taking sides with God's point of view"
This revelation was based on the story of Jesus and Peter. Jesus began to tell the disciples of his death and how he would suffer many things in the hands of the Jews, and peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. The Bible says Jesus turned from him and said "Get behind me Satan for you do not savour what is of God but of man". I had read this several times. But when I read it in Beckley's version, it said “Get behind me Satan, for you do not take God's viewpoint but man's", and it struck me.
In every situation, there is man's viewpoint, there is the situational viewpoint, and there is God's viewpoint. We have a choice whose viewpoint we take sides with. Whose viewpoint are you taking sides with? God's viewpoint is seen in His word. It is what God says in the situation and about the situation. That is the side I take, regardless of, no matter what. I am not shifting sides.
If God says that I am healed, that I will live and not die, and then I don't care what the situation says about it, I don't care what men say about, I take God's side "I WILL LIVE AND NOT DIE!" If the world is going through a bad time, and men are complaining, but God said, "I will bless you going out and coming in",”The rod of the wicked shall not fall upon the lot of the righteous" I take that side.
1. To have faith is to take a side. I take God's side.
2. God's viewpoint is not dependent on the situation, it was not written after the situation, and it preceded it. Ever before the sickness came, God already said he took my grief and carried my sorrow; He already said that by His stripes I was and am healed, so I refuse to take sides with that sickness. I declare that He took my grief, so I will not grief about this sickness, no I refuse to grief, by his stripes I was healed, I was healed, and I refuse to lay down sick and depressed. I am healed, my head is healed, my stomach is healed, my tonsils are healed, and I refuse to take again the grief and sorrow caused by sickness. Now I am taking sides, “Hallelujah!
3. Find out God's viewpoint about the situation. God's viewpoint is found in the word of God, in the bible. If you are going through a bad time, begin to take sides with the blessing. Remember 1 Cor. 9 about the Church in Philippians, Paul said that in the middle of their national distress, they gave to us, not just that, they first submitted or took sides with God and His word, and then in obedience to God's word, they began to give. Do you think the recession they were going through lasted, no, they broke its back. Glory! They learnt about tithing, doing things for the gospel's sake, honoring their parents, and they acted and claimed the blessing. Paul in Philippians 4: 16 said, "They communicated in giving and receiving" and so walked in the blessing!
Let’s end by telling the story of Jesus, and the fig tree. Recall that the Bible said it was not the time of figs, but Jesus was hungry, and hoped to find some fig on the tree, He found none. The bible says, he ANSWERED the fig tree and said, no man eats fruit of thee anymore, and the fig tree died from its roots. Did you notice that He "answered and said" What did he answer to. he answered to the viewpoint of the situation that must have said to him, "You will go hungry, you will not find help, " Jesus said no, not so, it is you that no one will eat from anymore, for me I will do the will of Him that sent me and fulfill my course". Jesus did.
It's your time to begin to take sides with God word and walk by faith!
Memory verse: "Get thee behind me Satan for you do not take God's viewpoint but man's".
