In the business world especially for traders, knowing how to take positions is an important art. You can't survive in an ever-changing market if you don't know how to take positions.
This is the same when you are walking by faith, we need to take positions on the word of God, what we will do, how we will act whether things look perfect or not. I believe God whether things look perfect or not, in an out of season.
Let us go through certain scriptures:
The scripture says in 2Timothy 4:2, "Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season. . . " You need to read the Amplified version of this scripture, it says "be Keep your sense of urgency [stand by, be at hand and ready], whether the opportunity seems to be favorable or unfavorable. [Whether it is convenient or inconvenient, whether it is welcome or unwelcome . . ). Let me say it like this. remember the story of the sower in mark 4, where the seed fell on the rock, the bible says the fellow received the word with joy (in the good time), but when the season changed, and persecution and trials arose for the word sake, he gave up the word.
Anyone can talk about God when times are good, it is easy to stay on the word when everything look good, but the real test is when the season changes, when you seem to get depressed and tired, when the cloud seems to be setting in and pressure rises from everywhere. You need to decide upfront what you must do. you cannot wait to get to the days of adversity to decide what you will do. you need to take a position now! Make up your mind, decide you will follow Jesus, whether the times are good or not. Proverb 4:26 says "Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.."
You take a position that you are God's man, which you believe the word that you act the word that you expect the word to come to pass, whether the wind is blowing or not, this is where I am. This is where I belong, to God and his word.
You can't afford to change like shifting shadows. James 1:17 talks about God. It says "all good and perfect gifts come from above from the father of light in whom there is no variableness or shadow of turning" another one says, He does not turn like shifting shadows. He word is yeah and amen. Also James by the Holy Ghost said in Chapter 1: 5-6 “Let him that lack wisdom ask from God, who gives freely and upbraids not, but let him not doubt in his heart, for he that wavers is like the wave of the sea, let not such a man think he shall receive anything from the Lord".
You can't shift each time things change. You will totally unstable. You can't abandon the word when things are bad and then take it up when things are good and expect to get any decent result. You need to decide upfront "I am God's man and I am not going anywhere!"
Consider, ponder the path of your feet and let your ways be established. You need to make a decision to live by the word of God and to stay with it no matter what.
What position must you take?
1. A position to stay with God and obey him regardless of what happens. Persecution will not arise and steal the word in our heart. We take a position.
2. A position to stay in faith in and out of our feeling seasons. If our moods determine whether we obey God or not, the instability will kill us off, we will be a rolling stone, unstable in all our way. If you are depressed, determine to get on the word, if you are happy; determine to stay on the word.
3. You must take a position, to take sides with God whether the result was good or bad. Remember Job, he said, "Whether he slays me or not, I will serve him". Remember the 3 Hebrew boys " Oh king, they said, we will not bother to answer you, we will not bow down to your Image whether our God saves us or not. Did you see that, " I will not walk in fear, whether the issue changes or not, I will not take that sickness, whether my body get's well or not, even if I die, praise God, at least I stood in faith and believe and fought till the end, and then in heaven I would have perfect health. What does it matter if I fear I will still die, so why not stay in faith?
Memory verse: Proverbs 4: 26 "Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established".
