The bible says "The Just shall live by faith" in other words, Faith has to be a lifestyle to the Just. Remember what it means to live by faith, it means to live by the word of God. So then it is easy to see how the Just needs to have a lifestyle of living by the word of God. Let make the following points:
1. You, the man who has been justified, cannot decide to walk by the word every once in a while, when you feel it. You can’t leave your walking in the word to your feelings, doing it today when you feel good and dumping it tomorrow when you are not so happy. No, you have a make a commitment to walk in the word in and out of your feeling seasons. When you are fine, walk by the word, when you are not fine, walk by the word. Let the word be your beginning word and your final word.
2. Living by the word has to be a lifestyle for it to produce results, like Gloria Copeland said “In consistency lies the power”. It is not just doing it once that matters, it is consistency, building up and building up, hearing and doing, this is what changes things permanently.
Get Paranoid about the word
You need to hear the word, obey the word, speak the word, think the word, and act the word on a daily basis. You must store up on the word, on a lifestyle basis, for you to produce constant victory in your life. People may call this paranoia, they may call it addiction, but that is the way it has to be for it to work. Deuteronomy 11: 18-21 “Therefore you shall lay up these my words in your [minds and] hearts and in your [entire] being, and bind them for a sign upon your hands and as forehead bands between your eyes. And you shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you rise up. And you shall write them upon the doorposts of your house and on your gates, that your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers to give them, as long as the heavens are above the earth”.
But can I tell you something? The world is paranoid with their system. They think worldly, sleep worldly, speak worldly, act worldly, eat worldly, and so you see why they produce their kind of result - death, sickness, pain, depression, vanity, adultery, fornication, strive and all evil thing. Now they don't notice the paranoia because the system is so stored in them up it has become the default system of "natural" life. And guess what, you live in that system. The default information you will store up will be these: death, immorality, depression, etc. By default, i.e. if you don't do anything, this is where you end up. Even if you get born again and you still don't do anything, that default world system will run your life and kill you. It is called the Law of death. You cannot abandon yourself to the elements of natural life, no one does that! This exactly is the reason we need to consciously begin to load up on the word until it is bursting out of every part of us? And what will you see? Joy, patience, peace, healing, health, life, righteousness, holiness, safety, because that is what you are storing up on!
Credits in your account.
Philippians 4:13 – 17 Paul, in writing to the church in Philippi, began to remind them of how they had supported him in the gospel. Now see what he says in verse 17: “Not that I seek or am eager for [your] gift, but I do seek and am eager for the fruit which increases to your credit [the harvest of blessing that is accumulating to your account]. , Paul began to talk about people having credits or fruit in their account. We need to have credits of the word in our account so that when the evil days come, we can draw on the content of our word account and sort the issues.
People usually wait for issues or problems to arise before they start gathering and drawing on the word. Now because they had not been building up a store of the word in their bank account, there is nothing to draw from and then they become offended at God and at his word, but the main issue was that they had never stored up any word in their heart so, of course, none is coming out when they need it.
Two stories readily come to mind. The story of the 10 virgins, and the analogy of the Ant.
Starting with the Ants. The Book of Proverb 30:25 gives an analogy with the ants. The analogy reads thus: “The ant having no master or head, gather his food in the summer for use in winter". The ant does not wait for winter to come to begin to gather its food; it gathers it in the summer. If you want to live by faith, you are not going to wait to get into desperate situations to begin to load up on the word. Usually, it is tough at those times because of several distractions. As the saying goes, you have to prepare for war in the time of peace.
In the story of the 10 virgins in Mat 25:1& above, the Virgins went to wait for the bridegroom. 5 packed extra oil with them and the other 5 did not. While they were waiting, they trimmed their light and they all fell asleep. Then at midnight, the bridegroom came. Those that had oil store topped their oil and the other ones that had no oil had to go and buy. Again the wisdom, you can't be buying your oil at mid-night when the bridegroom has come. Jesus called them the foolish virgins for doing that. And that is what we are, acting like when we plan to wait for the midnights of our live to begin to gather and store up the word in our heart.
Now we all act like the virgins, the wise one begin to store up treasure of the word in their heart, and build a large reserve of the word, they gather the word covering the whole will of God concerning every part of their lives, and so when the midnight of live comes (and it does every now and then), they draw on their store of the word and begin to apply it to the issues they are going through. Some people are foolish. Never gathering up any word, never paying attention, never building up a store of good things, and at the midnights of their lives, they do not have anything to draw from and so they suffer many things and go through many troubles.
Let's talk about the parable of the wise and the foolish man. One hears the word and does it and keeps it, and Jesus said, when the storm of life came and the wind beat vehemently against him, he stood. But the foolish man, he never paid attention nor did he obey the word. He never stored up on the word, and when the storm of life came and the wind beat vehemently against him, he collapsed and great was his fall. The storm of life comes to everyone, the sun shines on everyone and the darkness falls on everyone, but our outcomes are differentiated by the contents of our heart.
Faith does not work by you just trying it out, Faith works because you take sides with it, lock in on it and live by it. You think it etc.
Memory Verse: Habakkuk 2:4 “Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith”.
