He preached saying “repent and be converted for the kingdom of God has come”. He was declaring the end of an era and the beginning of another one. The attitude of the message and the response the people gave showed that it was good news. He said to them, God Kingdom has come to you.
When the British army conquered territories in the colonial era, the territories came under the jurisdiction of the Queen of England. The jurisdiction of the Queen of England extended beyond the British Isle, to all the territories and nations that the British had conquered and colonized. The laws and authority of the English throne held pre-eminence in those nations regardless of how far they were from the Britain. The realities of Britain held sway in those lands. If you were a slave and British Law abolished slavery, then you were automatically free. If you had a law customary to your people and they took you to the English court, the English court took precedence over the law of your customs, even though you lived among your people. Such is the power of a jurisdiction. Whatever the Crown said was final. If he declared you free, you were automatically free.
Let’s explain what the word “kingdom” means: It means a place where a king has dominion or right to express his ruler-ship. It is also referred to as the king’s jurisdiction. God’s kingdom, talks about where God has jurisdiction. That is where we are now, in God’s kingdom. If you were bound before, now you don’t have to be bound anymore, you can come into God’s jurisdiction and be freed. If you were sick, you do not have to stay sick; you can come under God’s jurisdiction, God’s dominion, and be healed. If you were broken hearted and you are all by yourself, you now have help, God’s help. God’s jurisdiction has come upon you. You can enter in by coming to Jesus and his word. The name of the Lord is a strong tower and the righteous run into it and they are saved (completely delivers, salvaged).
It was and is still called the good news of the kingdom. He said to them “You have help. God can help you, God is here to help you, you are so important to God he is willing to help you if you will come to him. They came to him, and they received miracle. The sick were healed, the lame walked the poor had the gospel preached to them. So much that when John the baptized was held in jail by Herod and he sent men to Jesus, and asked Him “are you he that should come or should we wait for another, he said to them, “Go tell john what you see, the sick are healed, the lame are walking and the poor have the good news preached to them.
Isaiah 61: 1-2 said of Jesus, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, he has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and the opening of the prison to them that are bound, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God”. That is what he is anointed to do, and that is what he will do for you if you will come to him. It is great to have an option, and you’ve got one. You don’t have to continue in your lifestyle, living all by yourself; Jesus came to give you a better way. John 3: 17, “He came not to condemn the world but that the world may be saved (salvaged, completely delivered, from whatever ails them) through him.” To start this Journey of faith in God, you need to know that God is not your problem he is your help. The reason Jesus came is that you may be saved and helped. You’ve got help.
This is the good news of the Kingdom.
Confession: I declare that in the name of Jesus, I have help, I declare and know that Jesus came not to condemn me but to save me, and so, I refuse to stay by myself and go through life all by my own strength and effort, I choose to come to him, I choose to stay with him, I choose to walk with him. I receive his help today. Thank you Lord Amen!
Memory Verse: KJV-R (Webster) John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
